* The Prime
Minister of India -- in his welcome address to the first conference of
the Indian Diaspora ( Pravasi Bhartiya Diwas ) -- said that a decision had been
taken to grant dual nationality to people of Indian origin of seven
countries. He added that this would require an Act of Parliament. Canada is one
of the seven countries for which the decision has been taken at this point of
