* Telugu Bharathi organized "YEH SHAAM MASTAANI" a musical and variety entertainment program on Monday, October 9, 2006 in Rose Theatre Auditorium in Brampton. Hemachandra who was the finalist in the Zee TV Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005 and is now a playback singer, sang a number of songs from various Hindi movies. Local artists also participated actively and presented some dances and songs.
* For the first time in the history of Ontario, Diwali
was celebrated at Queen's Park on October 10, 2006. The Consul
General of India in Toronto, Mr. Satish Mehta took the initiative and
involved Panorama India in organizing this event. Mr. Dalton McGuinty,

* Deepak Obhrai, M.P. for Calgary East & Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the India-Canada Association of Ottawa are pleased to announce the 7th Annual Diwali Celebration on Parliament Hill on Monday, October 23, 2006. Prime Minister Stephen Harper and leaders of the opposition parties, along with a number of parliamentarians and senators, will attend the event. There will be a brief program that includes Diwali Pooja (prayers), speeches from participating dignitaries, followed by cultural items from South Asia and concluding with a reception with traditional Diwali sweets.
